Facial scrub guide: which one to choose?

Facial scrub guide: which one to choose?

Posted by XiangJocelyn on

Having a face like that of a doll and smooth as silk is the dream of any woman. However, throughout our lives, hormones play with the skin and it gradually ages, slowing down the formation of new skin cells, as well as the elimination of old ones.

How can we help our skin? Well, with a facial exfoliation. We have prepared a list of tips for you with eight magnificent mechanical, chemical and enzymatic exfoliants and we advise you which one to use.

What exfoliant is the most suitable for your skin type?

A facial scrub is beneficial for any skin, even the most sensitive. However, it is important to know how to choose the scrub that meets the current needs of your face. The good news is that you don't have to strictly stick to one type of scrub. You can alternate them according to the state of your skin or according to the season of the year and, in short, enjoy tailored care. To help you choose, we are going to show you the advantages of the three types of scrubs.

Is a mechanical scrub suitable for your face?

Mechanical exfoliants or scrubs have a gel or cream consistency and contain small particles. They soften and smooth the skin by physically removing dead skin cells. They work great as an occasional alternative to a chemical or enzyme exfoliant. Just be careful not to apply too much pressure when massaging your face with a mechanical scrub. The particles should glide smoothly across the skin.

Our TIP: Mechanical exfoliators are also suitable for neck skin exfoliation. To make it silky smooth, just gently massage your neck with a mechanical scrub once or twice a week.

When to use a chemical peel?

Of the three types, chemical exfoliants are the most powerful. Use them if you have fine wrinkles, dull skin, large pores, pigmentation or acne scars. They contain AHA, BHA or a combination of these acids and, thanks to them, act on the skin in depth.

Perhaps it is better to use an enzyme exfoliant?

If you can't or don't want to use a chemical scrub, opt for an enzyme scrub with pineapple, papaya, pomegranate, or another fruit. The enzymes do not penetrate as deeply into the skin as AHAs or BHAs, but the results are not long in coming.

How often do you use a facial scrub?

The golden rule is that you should exfoliate your face once or twice a week. If your skin is very sensitive, follow this plan under any circumstances. If you have highly resistant skin, you can increase the frequency of exfoliation a little.

Our TIP: So that the skin does not get used to the effects of your favourite exfoliant and does not stop responding as it should replace it with another from time to time.
